A. No, Borders & Beyond pours every border on site using a machine that extrudes the concrete into a continuous concrete border.

Q. How long can I expect the process to take?

Q. My old block borders shift around over time and over the winter. Will this happen with the continuous concrete borders?

A. First, since our borders are one continuous piece of concrete there is no shifting of individual pieces. Next, Borders & Beyond installs expansion joints every 24 inches to compensate for ground movement. These joints control cracking due to movement and expansion/contraction, allowing the concrete to “breathe.”

Q. How long do the concrete borders last?

A. With proper care and maintenance, your new Borders & Beyond continuous concrete landscaping borders will last many years. We apply a sealer to the colored and stamped borders. Resealing once a year helps to assure a long and beautiful lifetime for your borders.

Q. How careful must I be after the installation?

A. Concrete borders can be damaged by kids, pets, friends & neighbors, or even yourself during the first few days after installation. The first 24 to 48 hours is the most crucial period. After that, the concrete is quite strong and can withstand being stepped on. However, do not allow anyone to dig under your border or run over it with a vehicle.

Q. Does installation of my new borders damage my existing flowerbeds and lawn?

A. No. Borders & Beyond uses a bed edger to cut a trench that is 1 – 2 inches deep and 9 inches wide. This trench forms a leveled surface for your new border. Your current landscaping is not damaged. It is even recommended that any sprinkler systems, sod, or even flower beds be in place before Borders & Beyond installs your new borders.
